I'm just about to start a new subscription paid podcast.
I've got the content. I've got 64 "early bird" subscribers.
I just need the software to run it.

In other words, what is the best service for me to use for my subscription podcast? I don't want anyone getting the link unless they've paid for it!

Good question Jack, I honestly don't know but would like to know if anyone else knows :)

I was thinking about having my older shows be paid for as well by subscription was just starting to look into that option.

Well, if someone has a suggestion. I'd love to know.
I've got 64 paid subscribers and I go live April 1st!

Why not use WordPress? You can:

1) add passwords to the posts, and send out the password to the subscribers via email.

2) sell them as digital downloads via a WordPress Shopping Cart.

Both are free.

I've been using premiumcast.com

for the school of podcasting. It not only allows me to create user specific RSS feeds, it allows me to sell digital downloads, create an auto responder podcast (great for courses), and if someone unsubscribes they lose access to the information. They also have the ability to create a membership site, and turn your wordpress blog into a membership site (all though paypal, and premiumcast ).

I just found out that Wordpress has a plugin for a membership site. This may be similar to what Penny was saying. But I heard it was ultra-easy & it comes with supports. The site is wpwishlist.com.

Jack, I actually develop web applications and have an application that will allow the podcaster who charge for a subscription.

People can have the URL, but they must log in and will need to pay you on Paypal. It works. Let me know if you are interested.
